BMHS announces three Daniels Fund Scholars

Bishop Machebeuf High School is proud to announce that three of our graduating seniors have been awarded the Daniels Fund Scholarship. In a four state region of Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Arizona, 263 scholarships were awarded, 181 to Colorado students. Congratulations to Angel Ibarra (middle), Sara Sahlezghi (right) and Alex Sigala (left), it is a tremendous honor to have them represent the Bishop Machebeuf community as Daniels Scholars.

Angel Ibarra will attend Catholic University of America, Sara Sahlezghi will attend Franciscan University of Steubenville and Alejandro Sigala will attend the University of Notre Dame. The Daniels Fund scholarship is an integral part in making these goals happen.

To be eligible for the award, students must first be nominated by a youth-serving organization. In the four-state region, over 2,000 students were nominated. After being nominated the students take part in a rigorous application and interview process. The Daniels Fund is looking for students who demonstrate strong character, a well-rounded personality and a record of giving back to the community.

The Daniels Fund scholarship is not a full ride, but is supplemental to all other financing options, including scholarships, grants and other aid available to the student. Once that aid is applied the Daniels Fund covers all tuition, fees, room and board, books and supplies. Recipients of the scholarship also receive a laptop computer and printer.
