High School Placement Test - HSPT

The High School Placement Test is the entrance exam to Bishop Machebeuf High School.  All 8th grade applicants to 9th grade are required to take this test in order to be considered for admission.  The HSPT is offered to current 8th grade students on the first Saturday in December.  The HSPT consists of subtests for Verbal Skills, Quantitative Skills, Reading, Mathematics, and Language. Students may NOT use calculators to do any of the work on the HSPT.

The scores from the placement test are one of the many criteria used by the Admissions Committee to compare students from the dozens of schools from which 8th graders apply.  Scores are also used to offer students seats in our Advanced freshman courses.  The results of this test are considered with the other admissions requirements and are used in admissions decisions.  The placement test, coupled with the earned grades from 6th – 8th grades, permit us to determine if a student is adequately prepared to be admitted into our college preparatory high school.

The HSPT at Machebeuf

The HSPT at Machebeuf coincides with the other Catholic high schools in the Denver Metro area.  Students are strongly advised to take the HSPT at our school if Machebeuf is your top choice high school.  Only students who take the test at Machebeuf on the December test date and list Machebeuf as their first choice high school are eligible for our Robert Duke Finn Scholarship or Principal Scholarship. Students taking the HSPT at another school will NOT be considered for those Merit-Based Scholarships.

Students who are taking the HSPT at a school other than Machebeuf are encouraged to apply to Machebeuf.  You will need to submit your score results to Machebeuf as soon as you receive them in order to complete your application by the deadline.
