The Social Studies department offers the following sequence, depending on placement tests given to incoming students:

Students must complete 3.5 years
of Social Studies in order to graduate
Objectives:
The student should:
1. become aware of the growing interdependence of nations and the consequent importance of living harmoniously together,
2. Increase his awareness, understanding, and tolerance of the contributions of other cultures to the world community,
3. Have a consciousness which relates rights and responsibilities in political, economic, and social matters,
4. Recognize and respect the worth of each individual,
5. Make judgments based on historical perspective and pertinent knowledge,
6. Be committed to dealing in appropriate manner with issues such as family, country, race, technology, peace, war, drugs, and rebellion.
7. Understand the difference between, and be able to examine and evaluate, primary and secondary sources.
