an academic community of faith

About BMHS

From the Principal

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I welcome you and your family to Bishop Machebeuf High School and our website.  Having been named one of the Top 50 Catholic High Schools in the United States of America by the Acton Institute for four years in a row, Machebeuf continues to serve the young people of Denver in their continuing education and Catholic faith formation.  As you review the various materials, look around our website, and are introduced to the many committed faculty and staff; I invite you to engage in this very exciting process with your students, and to enter into dialogue with them about the possibility of joining a community of tradition, success and excellence through and through!

You are seeking to join Bishop Machebeuf High School at a very exciting time in our school’s history.  As a community of faith that was established in 1958, it is an honor and a privilege to say that we ‘stand on the shoulders of the giants’ who have come before us.  A foundation of excellence has been laid and a tradition of forming the hearts, minds and souls of our young people prevails in all that we do.  As a result of this long-standing tradition of excellence, just recently Bishop Machebeuf High School was recognized by 5280 Magazine as one of the Top 15 high schools in the greater Denver metropolitan area.

As you experience your visit to Bishop Machebeuf High School, I want to draw your attention to what makes Machebeuf what it is and who we are.  The essence of Machebeuf can be summed up in our 5 Core Values; Devotion to God, Academic Excellence, Service to Others, Cultural and Ethnic Variety and Christian Morality.  These 5 Core Values work to keep the hearts, eyes and minds continuously fixed on our constant and eternal goal…to live as Christ has taught us to live.

There are a few qualities of Bishop Machebeuf High School that are going to stand out for you as you enter into the high school exploration process.  First and foremost, you will see the strength of the Catholic faith in our students, parents and faculty.  You will witness the advantages that come from becoming a part of a smaller school community in the relationship-building that takes place, in the opportunities to participate and excel in our various extracurricular activities, and in the individualized attention that our students receive in the classroom both one-on-one and in small groups. Finally, you will see the wealth of diversity found among our student body in the areas of socio-economics, culture and ethnicity, geography and academic abilities.

As you reflect on the successes that have been attained here at Bishop Machebeuf High School over the course of the past couple of years, you will hear about our achievements in areas ranging from multiple appointments to the nations military academies and our National Merit, Achievement and Hispanic Scholars to our women’s state championship in basketball and our individual state champion 400 meter sprinter!  So I thank you for your interest in our school community and I look forward to meeting you in the months to come as you spend time visiting our campus.  God bless you and your families as you make your decisions during this very exciting time.

Yours in Christ,
Jessie Skipwith
Principal
